Most of the time, the feet and legs are affected before the arms. The primary cause of peripheral neuropathy is diabetes and, over time, peripheral nerve damage caused by diabetes can lead to problems with your digestive tract, heart, internal organs, and sex organs. Since we are discussing peripheral neuropathy, we will mention only briefly that these nerve-related problems can cause indigestion, dizziness, bowel disorders, and impotence, among other things, which do not necessarily belong in a pain book.
